Hotel Casa Cacao occupies a listed historic building on Plaça Catalunya in Girona's old town — the ground floor belongs to Casa Cacao, Jordi Roca's chocolate shop. The hotel above has 15 rooms, a rooftop terrace with views across the medieval skyline, and the unhurried quality you'd expect from the people behind El Celler de Can Roca. This is a small hotel where every object has been considered: the bed linen is from Bassols, the throws from Teixidors, the rugs from Cumellas. The breakfast is a tasting menu.

“La Terrassa — a rooftop terrace above Girona's rooftops where breakfast is served as a tasting experience, and dinners are available on selected evenings. One of the most remarkable views from any hotel breakfast in Spain.”

Spa & Sport
Wellness & Activities
No spa. The wellness here is Girona itself — morning walks on the medieval walls, the quiet of the Jewish quarter, breakfast with a view. The city is the amenity.
Your time here
What your days could look like
Wake to the light on Girona's rooftops. Breakfast at La Terrassa — a tasting menu above the old town, take your time. Walk the medieval walls after. The Jewish quarter, the cathedral, the covered market before lunch. An afternoon in the city's streets, or a drive to Cadaqués and Cap de Creus. Back for a drink at the hotel bar. Dinner at one of Girona's quietly excellent restaurants.

People
The Hosts
Casa Cacao is a Roca family project — built by the same family behind El Celler de Can Roca and the Casa Cacao chocolate shop. Joan, Josep and Jordi Roca have been working in Girona since 1986; the hotel is an extension of that commitment to the city. The philosophy is the same as at the table: thoughtful sourcing, handcrafted materials, nothing that doesn't earn its place.

The Area
Girona Old Town · Plaça Catalunya
Girona's old town is dense, walkable and almost entirely intact — Gothic cathedral (which took six centuries to build), Arab baths, the Barri Vell, and the Call (the medieval Jewish quarter, one of the best-preserved in Europe). The city walls are accessible and free. From the hotel, everything in the old town is within ten minutes on foot. The Costa Brava coast — rocky coves, fishing villages, Cap de Creus — is 45 minutes by car. Barcelona is 1h15 by train.
